Clitheroe To Paris

https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/?view=att&th=13a01b08f1d8c30f&attid=0.2&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P91jHqRPodg77RqefidsYFn&sadet=1348735997860&sads=IbdqraD3JDCzOlZTe0sqoOVjC2w

As you may or may not know , CrossFit Clitheroe athletes Steven Meyerhoff and Scott Bell are cycling from Clitheroe to Paris starting on Monday 1 October 2012 from our work offices at the The Printworks in Barrow. They are hoping it is going to take about 7 days and on the Friday we are joining forces with approximately 40 other cyclist to cycle the London to Paris leg. Another colleague of ours, Andrew Woolfall is joining us on the ride.

During a drunken evening where the London to Paris ride was discussed, they thought it might be a bit tame and told the organisers that we would meet them in London after having cycled from our offices in Clitheroe. The challenge was accepted and little did they know at that stage that it is actually a longer distance to go from Clitheroe to London than it is London to Paris.

The route that they are taking is likely to mean them covering around 900 – 1000 km in total with us having to average over 140 kms / 80miles riding each day for 7days.

They have been busy training over the last few months riding various sportive rides including the Ribble Valley 100 miles, The Ride with Brad Wiggins 100 miles as well as regularly attending Crossfit and Spinning when the weather is like it is now! As you can probably tell through the combination of the riding and the gym sessions, they have both lost a lot of weight and their fitness has vastly improved. It’s amazing motivation to know that every extra pound you lose in weight makes the bike ride easier up those hills.

As part of the challenge they are seeking to raise funds for Transaid which aims to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods across Africa and the developing world through creating better transport. Projects focus on access to health and community run transport, transport management and professional driver training.

They are a little short of our £5,000 fundraising target and if anybody would like to sponsor us they can do through the Just Giving Site. We have so far raised just over £4,200

If you need any further information Julia Davies (Marks wife) is managing the process from our end. Her contact details are julia.davies@backhouses.co.uk

Photos updates en route will be posted to Facebook/Twitter and we are going to try and get a real time GPS link so people can track our progress in real time.

London To Paris

“VIVA LA FRANCE”

JASON & LIZ TAKE THEIR SPINNING TO THE ROAD

This past weekend CrossFit Clitheroe Athletes Liz Campbell and Jason Tapping hung up their marathon trainers and set out on a monster Journey from London to Paris on their road bikes. Fed up of running marathon’s both Liz and Jason decided on a new challenge, and being of the crossFit mentality thought no better way to start than a 310km bike ride. Over the last few months they have both taken to the roads and mastered the art of road cycling (not with out a few scrapes along the way), they have both also continued to CrossFit on a daily basis, as well as regular spinning and road sessions with fellow athletes Carla Thompson and Danny Woodhead.

We look forward to see what this whacky pair can dream up next to put to test their outstanding level of physical fitness.

WELL DONE FROM ALL AT CROSSFIT CLITHEROE.

This long weekend challenge links two great European cities, London and Paris, covering around 300km in just 3 days. Encounter historic towns, sleepy villages and rolling countryside en-route.
